Last year around this time, I went to a dinner at the Four Seasons Atlanta to learn about Nevis—a place in the Caribbean I had never heard of. I soon realized this is where Alexander Hamilton was from (yes, thee famous A.H.) and that it’s the sister island to the much more well-known St. Kitts, which is just a 10-minute boat ride away. I had the opportunity to visit now in October and was blown away, TBH. I’m not an island girl, although I’m from Florida, my mom is from Cuba, I grew up where it’s hot, etc. etc. etc. I’ll never get used to that heat, BUT I would absolutely visit this magical little place again.

What did I love about it? Almost everything. From the friendly hospitality and hotels I got to experience to the animal sounds that lulled me to sleep every night, I could’ve stayed an extra week as a form of *self care,* but I didn’t so here are 5 reasons you should visit Nevis this winter, and when you do I’d be happy to join you. Pro tip: befriend the locals who might even take you to karaoke or their favorite, off-the-radar bars and restaurants if they like you. Everyone I encountered in Nevis radiated kindness, love, and warmth galore. Hugs all around.
